The two major non-profits to which Aardex dedicates time, effort and resources, are The March of Dimes and Habitat for Humanity.
March of Dimes
Janice Thompson, COO of Aardex LLC is in her 6th year as a member of the Board of Directors for the Colorado Chapter of the March of Dimes. Janice has also chaired and now sits as a member of the Nominating and Volunteer Development Committee for the board. In addition, she has made significant contributions to the board’s development through the formulation of a systematic nominating process for hiring new board members, as well as a board member self assessment utilized to measure the effectiveness of individual board members.
This year Janice coordinated the first Volunteer Leadership day – an event attended by more than 80 volunteer leaders. The event was dedicated to providing volunteers with information and education regarding the mission of the March of Dimes as well as its efforts in advocacy, education and research to reduce prematurity and infant mortality – both of which are on the rise in the U.S. Janice has also facilitated staff retreats for the past 9 years, for the Colorado Chapter management group; contributing to their team development and effectiveness.
In support of the March of Dimes whose mission is “to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality,” Aardex contributes through financial donations, time and resources to several annual fundraising events:
March for Babies: In 2007 (it’s second year participating in the event) Aardex raised $12,700 in walk sponsorship and company matching from 15 walkers, and fundraising events such as Blue Jeans for Babies, pot luck lunches, and the sale of March of Dimes beanie babies.
MUDD Volleyball: Aardex employees worked the event selling beer to the volleyball players contributing to fundraising efforts totaling over $27,000 in beer sales.
Signature Chefs: 20 Aardex employees and spouses attended this major fundraising event contributing $5,000 for two tables at the event and purchasing a total of almost $9,000 in silent and live auction items and cash contributions to the March of Dimes.
Other Donations: Aardex contributed over 50 telephone sets and a phone system server to the Colorado Chapter office at a value of over $25,000.
Habitat for Humanity
Aardex employees have contributed over 300 working hours to Habitat for Humanity as individual construction volunteers and group volunteers, working on several different home building projects throughout the Denver area. Habitat for Humanity Denver provides a homeownership program for hard-working families in need of a decent, safe and affordable home.
Not only are we building structures that satisfy human needs; we are also rooted in outreach efforts that make the world a better place to live.
